HistoneDeacetylase2(HDAC2)ispartofafamilyofhistonedeacetylasesthatareresponsIBLefordeacetylationoflysineresiduesinthehistonecore.HDAC2isclassifiedasaclassIhistonedeacetylaseandisubiquitouslyexpressedthroughoutthebody(Keeetal,2008).IthasbeenshownthatHDAC2playsanimportantroleincardiachypertrophy(Eometal,2011).Phosphorylationofser394isresponsibleforthehypertrophy-associatedactivationofHDAC2,whereasintrinsicbasalactivityismaintainedbyphosphorylationofSer422andSer424(EOMetal,2011).
