Thethiazide-sensitivesodiumchloridecotransporter,NCC,isthemajorNaCltransportproteininthedistalconvolutedtubule(DCT)andplaysanimportantroleinmaintainingbloodpressure(Rosenbaeketal.,2014,Fengetal.,2015).PhosphorylationofNCCatThr-53,Thr-58,andSer-71isanessentialmediatorofNCCfunction(Rosenbaeketal.,2014).NCCisconstitutivelycycledtotheplasmamembrane,anduponstimulation,itcanbephosphorylatedtobothincreaseNCCactivityanddecreaseNCCendocytosis,togetherincreasingNaCltransportintheDCT(Fengetal.,2015).
