Testicularreceptor2(TR2)isamemberoftheorphannuclearreceptorfamily.Itiswidelyexpressedatalowlevelthroughouttheadulttestis.TR2repressestranscriptionandbindsDNAdirectlyinteractingwithHDAC3andHDAC4viaDNA-bindingdomains(Francoetal.,2003).TR2hasalsobeenimplicatedinregulationofestrogenreceptoractivityinmammaryglands(Hunetal.,2002).Inaddition,TR2hasrecentlybeenshowntoformaheterodimerwithTR4thatcanbindtothedirectrepeat6elementofthehepatitisBvirus(HBV)enhancerIIregionthussuppressingHBVgeneexpression(Linetal.,2008).
