MEK5(alsoknownasMKK5)isadualspecificityserine/threonineproteinkinasebelongingtotheMAPkinasekinasefamily.MEK5hasbeenshowntospecificallyactivateERK5(Zhouetal.,1995)whereasMEK5itselfisregulatedbyMEKK3(Chaoetal.,1999).AnimportantlinkbetweenMEK5andmetastaticprostratecancerhasbeendemonstrated(Mehtaet.al.,2003).DualphosphorylationofSer311andThr315havebeenimplicatedincellproliferation(Cameronetal.,2004).
